Well the town clerk has prepared a report for council that gives her overview of the 2010 election, and the issues that were faced.
Here's the link to the actual report, and you will find it on page 25.

Also on page 42-44 of the same report, is an interm auditors report which is quite a shocker. The town's CAO was approving his own expense reports. Nothing like letting the Fox run the Hen house as they say. The Auditor recommends that the Mayor approve the CAO expenses, which on the surface seems fine, but I think the town should have more than 1 person approving another person's expense report.
Getting back to the clerks report on page 25, she states that they were experiencing issues with the Diebold voting machines at the advance polls. The issue was that voters would click on the person they wanted to vote for, and then it would default to the next name on the list. In my case I was before our current Mayor, so if someone was to click on my name it would go to his name. While the clerk claims that this was fixed, and she again goes back and blames it on the voter for not pressing within the box beside the name, these machines have a history of errors like this. Just google "Diebold voting machines" and read for yourself.
Very strange if you ask me.
Are they powered by Windows? If so, does the machine not ask 'Are you sure you want to vote for Fishman?' at least 3 times? Just kidding - I hear you. Take a look at the Trustee vote in Barrie - what a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteYes these machines have a bad history of errors. I wonder why given their history that places like Barrie and Wasaga Beach would use them.
