When I do a posting, I link it up to my Facebook and Twitter accounts so I can get as much exposure as possible. Well needless to say I entered into a debate on my Facebook account with a person who was a friend, and who's since deleted me. The debate was in response to a posting surrounding the 2011 Provincial election in the province of Ontario. I was comparing the differences between the 4 major political parties, and I seemed to strike a nerve with this one lady who's seeking the nomination of her political party in the Oakville area. In a nutshell she gave up debating me on the issues, and was very partisan in her responses. She told me in an e-mail that she felt the conversation had ran it's course so that's why she deleted me as a friend. She went on to say that I was very critical of her party leader.
Yes I'm critical of any party leader who wants to become the Premier of our Province. I want to know what he/she stands for, what they intend to do once elected, why should I cast my vote for them, and the list goes on and on. It's quite clear that she was getting upset with me, and instead of debating the facts she decided to leave, or should I say run away. This is a person who's seeking the nomination of her party, wants to run in a general election, and will be attending a ton of debates, yet she runs away when debating me on my facebook account.
As most people know I have ran twice for public office and I've never backed down from a debate, or an exchange with a voter, reporter, or any special interest group. Voters have a very dim view of our political leaders, and this lady is just another example of someone who wants to get elected as an MPP, but she runs and hides when things heat up.
So if you can't debate, then don't run for office. It's plain and simple in my mind.
