3 by-elections today in Canada

Some people will be heading to the polls in by-elections taking place across Canada. 2 of them are in Manitoba, and the other is in Ontario in the riding of Vaughan.

Everyone seems to be watching the Vaughan race very closely as you have the former head of the OPP, Julian Fantino running for the Conservatives. The only problem is that nobody could find Mr. Fantino during this election campaign. He missed several all candidate meetings, he's not engaged the media, and he claims that he's been busy talking with voters about their issues.

The sad thing is that he will most likely win this election which will be a big defeat for the Liberals as they have held this seat for over 20 years. If the Conservatives pull off a win in Vaughan it will mean that on the Federal side, Vaughan and Thornhill will be blue and on the Provincial side Thornhill is also blue. So the only seat in the City of Vaughan which will be Liberal red is the provincial riding of Vaughan.

After the success of Rob Ford as the new Mayor of Toronto who's also a Conservative, this could be a sign of things to come in the 2011 Provincial and most likely Federal elections. I've said it before and I will say it again, the tide is turning from Liberal Red to Conservative Blue with a little NDP orange and maybe some Green mixed in.
