OK, we all get emotional from time to time, but the Speaker of the House in the United States sure likes to cry. Just finished watching 60 Minutes and the Speaker who's just 2 heart beats away from being President, could not stop crying. He said that's because he's so upset seeing the American Dream fade away because of the recession, high US debt, and what he says is a President who just does not get it.
Here's one of the video's of him crying...
Now back to the whole recession thing. I need not remind everyone that the global recession was created in the United States under a Republican President - George W. Bush. The new Speaker is also a Republican, and even before he's been sworn in he's made a deal with Obama to keep all of the tax cuts even for the rich. Obama wanted to just keep the tax cuts for familes making under $ 250,000 a year and actually would have given them more of a tax cut, while raising taxes on the top 1% of Americans. Now with this new deal that Obama agreed to, which also allows unemployement benefits to be extended for 13 months, this will add 700 billion to the deficit next year alone. Obama's plan would have just added 300 billion.
The soon to be speaker also plans to reduce his budget, and that of all committees by 5%. This would only save about 25 million dollars next year. Gee that sounds like a plan to reduce the deficit, and create jobs for Americans. He further went on to say that America does not have a revenue issue, but a spending issue. Sounds like he's been talking with Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford who's also a Conservative.
Until next time!
